Folkestone: Wednesday 15th July

Yesterday we had lots of activities after the lessons had finished. At lunchtime we were able to look around the town centre in Folkestone before going to the Constitutional Club for a screen printing activity. We were all given T-shirts, paper and pencils so that we could design our own images to print. There were some design books and examples of ideas available, but mostly people decided to use their own imagination and create their own designs. After we finished the drawings we cut out the design and Jonathan helped us print onto the T-shirt by squeezing thick, green ink through a screen.

Ayer tuvimos un montón de actividades después de las clases habían terminado. A la hora del almuerzo nos dejaban explorer en el centro del pueblo en Folkestone antes de ir al Club Constitucional para una actividad de impresión de camisetas. Todos estábamos dado camisetas, papel y lápices para que podamos diseñar nuestras propias imágenes para imprimir. Hubo algunos ejemplos de diseño de libros y de ideas, pero la mayoría de la gente decidió usar su propia imaginación y crear sus propios diseños. Después de terminar los dibujos recortamos el diseño y Jonathan nos ayudo a imprimir las camisetas por apretar una tinta espesosa de color verde a través de una clase de filtro.

Later, after dinner, we went to play Ten Pin Bowling. There were lots of other electronic games there too. Of course some games sparked off a lot of competition between the students!! There were other video games to play alone too, like motorbike racing, football and basketball. The place was full of vivid colours and bright lights, it was very exciting and we all had a great time together.

Más tarde, después de cenar, fuimos a jugar a bolos. Hubo muchos otros juegos electrónicos allí también. Por supuesto, algunos juegos provocaron mucha competencia entre los estudiantes! Hubo otros juegos de vídeo para jugar solo también, como de las carreras de motos, fútbol y baloncesto. El lugar estaba lleno de colores vivos y luces brillantes, fue muy emocionante y todos lo pasamos muy bién juntos.

Today has also been an exciting day as our afternoon excursion transported us deep into the heart of Africa… well, nearly!! At lunchtime we all climbed into the bus to go to Port Lympne, which is an animal sanctuary a short drive away from Folkestone. The animals are brought to the sanctuary because they are sick or endangered and are looked after here until they are well enough to before be returned to their natural habitat. At the park we got onto the Safari truck and were taken past some of the enclosures where we saw black rhinos and elephants, then we passed through the gate leading to an enormous open area where many different animals are able to roam free, just as though they were in the wild.
We saw lots of different animals, such as wildebeest, bison, various types of antelopes and ostriches too. We stopped for a warm drink and a walk through the hot house where we saw snakes, lizards, spiders and various insects. Then it was time to get back in the truck and go down to the enclosures where the monkeys are kept. We saw gorillas, gibbons and baboons before sitting down in a beautiful garden. By then the sun had come out again and everybody did animal drawings before going home for dinner.

Hoy también ha sido un día emocionante porque nuestra excursión de la tarde nos transportan profundamente en el corazón de África ... bueno, casi! A la hora del almuerzo todos subieron en el autobús para ir a Puerto Lympne, que es un santuario de animales situado a corta distancia de Folkestone. Los animales llegan al santuario porque están enfermos o en peligro de extinción y estan atendidos aquí hasta que sean lo suficientemente bien para ser devueltos a su hábitat natural. En el parque subimos el camión de Safari y pasamos algunas de las cajas donde vimos negro rinocerontes y elefantes, y luego pasamos por la puerta que conduce a una enorme zona abierta, donde muchos animales pueden vagar libres, como si que estaban en el medio silvestre. Hemos visto un montón de diferentes animales, tales como ñúes, bisontes, diversos tipos de antílopes y avestruces también. Nos detuvimos para una bebida caliente y un paseo por la casa caliente donde vimos serpientes, lagartos, arañas y diversos insectos. Entonces ha llegado el momento de volver en el camión e ir a los recintos donde se encuentran los monos. Vimos gorilas, gibones y los babuinos antes de sentarse en un hermoso jardín. Para entonces el sol había salido de nuevo y todos hicieron dibujos de animales antes de ir a casa para la cena.
